Story
In a moment of foolishness (or maybe I wanted a challenge to work towards!) I entered the Great Birmingham Half Marathon which takes place on October 16th.
My daughter, Stephie, is just starting her 2nd year studying to be a 'conductor' at the National Institute of Conductive Education (NICE) in Birmingham. Conductive Education is an approach to the whole person, enabling them to initiate actions or supporting them to sustain them.
What NICE do is really important - it works with people of all ages who have neurological motor disorders, and helps them have a better quality of life. Conductors are the people who work with the individuals - be that children or adults. I know that through her training, Stephie will have a significant positive impact on many people who would otherwise face some difficult challenges in everyday life. Clients include those recovering from strokes, children and adults with cerebral palsy, adults with MS and those affected by other motor neurological conditions.
So, thats why I am running! The money I raise goes towards training Stephie and other conductors, which will ultimately help many others to have a better and more independent quality of life.
I haven't run a half marathon before, so this is a new one for me. I am training regularly and my aim is to complete the course in around 2 hours - as the event gets nearer I'll be posting updates on the training.
I would appreciate your support for this really good cause - sponsoring me raises funds for NICE, but if you want to come and run with me, that is also really appreciated, I promise I will try and keep up!
It would also be great to see some familiar faces as I run on October 16, so if you can come and support me on the day, I promise I will try and stop for a selfie!

Thanks for reading and for your support in the challenge. Together we can change lives.
