Story
Did you know that the National Health Service has no out-of-hours courier service?
That means that if a patient needs blood for a transfusion, or a new baby needs donor breast milk, or a doctor needs to read your notes to make an urgent diagnosis, there is no way to transport what's needed without using an expensive taxi or tying up an ambulance.
That's where Blood Bikes come in.
Blood Bikes are ridden by volunteers. In the Bristol area, Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service (EVS) provides this courier service outside office hours.
The lifesaving service to the NHS is provided free of charge and is funded entirely by public donation and sponsorship.
Freewheelers EVS operates a fleet of motorcycles, each equipped with high-visibility markings, blue lights and sirens for emergency use.
Freewheelers is a small charity with no salaries to pay, so you can be sure that every penny you donate will go straight to keeping a Blood Bike on the road.

On 22 June 2015 I will ride my own Triumph Trophy 1200 from John O'Groats to Land's End for the Freewheelers.
Please sponsor me and help support the Freewheelers EVS and their lifesaving service.
