This year I lost a great friend and working colleague of 13 years standing. He had planned to cycle the C2C with his mate Damian in May. In memory, Damian and myself intend to follow the timetable and route as he had planned.

As well as the loves of his life: Elaine, beer and whisky, there were:

     * walking the hills and mountains of Scotland 

     * dogs

His love for walking unfortunately ended in tragedy, as he went missing in the Tyndrum hills on the 21st March. There was a large scale search to find Daniel over the following days. This included the work of the Search and Rescue Dogs Association alongside several mountain rescue teams.  I hope that the many people who loved Danny feel this is a fitting cause.
