Story
Hi, thank you for visiting my Justgiving page, my name is Robert Pooley and I live with my wife Anna and children Abbie and Owen in Cornwall.
In early 2004 me and my lovely wife were delighted to have found out we were expecting our first child who was due to arrive in December. Anyone who has had the privilege of expecting a child will know the mixture of nerves and excitement that followed. Strangely time seemed to pass quickly at times but also slowly at other periods. But most days we couldn't help but dream and wonder about our bright future. We attended all the usual routine scans and appointments which all passed with no signs for worry.
Sadly at thirty two weeks on the 28th October our midwife couldn't find a heartbeat and a scan revealed our precious baby had passed away. Baby Aimee Pooley was born at 21:20 and weighed three pounds three ounces in the Daisy suite at Treliske hospital. She had her cord wrapped around her neck three times and this was later believed to have been the cause. She was the most beautiful little girl we had ever seen and we got to spend the night with her. Leaving her the following morning was the hardest thing we have ever had to do.
Unbelievably in 2009 our friends also lost their little girl Ella in a similar situation. They set up the charity Ella's Memory to help and assist parents of stillborn babies to compile memories of their beautiful babies in more comfortable surroundings whilst in Hospital. In the last six years they have successfully renovated the Daisy suite, a second support room, the memorial garden and furnished a counselling room at Treslike.
This year our little girl Aimee would have been twelve years old, also in April we are expecting our fourth child another little girl. To mark these occasions I have been lucky to secure a place in the worlds biggest half marathon the Great North Run. This will take place on Sunday 11th September and I would like to help raise money for Ella's Memory. To then hopefully help other families sadly going through similar traumatic situations.
Thank you for reading my story and I hope you decide to sponsor me.
