Sea to Sea Cycle ride - for Rugby Hope 4
Some of you may know that I (very occassionally) help out with Rugby Hope 4. It's a day centre run by the a Christian Charity to help those who are homeless and badly housed in Rugby. It is an amazing privilege to be involved, and I just love the people I meet there and hope that in a small way I am helping love them. I think in theis process my heart is also being changed to love as Jesus did.
In May of this year I will be embarking on my latest adventure to raise much needed funds for the continued work of Rugby Hope 4 - particularly towards their building fund (The Charity is seekign to buy a freehold premesis and needs approximately £250,000)
The plan is that (along with an elite group of trained athletes each raising money for their own selected charity), I will be cycling from the West coast of England to the East over the course of just 3 days, in an attempt to raise sponsorship for the Hope 4 Charity in Rugby.
On May 14th 2012, the ride will start by dipping their back wheels in the Irish Sea and will end when their front wheels get a dip in the North Sea at the finish on the Wednesday evening.
Obviously, the keys to the success of this event are both the hours of training put in by the cyclists over the coming months, and their ability to raise the funds that will make the trip worthwhile, Personally, I'd like to smash my target of £1000 in sponsorship.
I should emphasise this is really not a Sunday cycle in the park, and on the trip we will be riding more than 50 miles per day (and that includes some pretty big slopes), incorporating a dizzying rise and fall of some 20,224 vertical feet – it’s the equivalent of cycling from London to Sheffield, and cycling up snowdon 4 times along the way. It seemed like a good idea in the pub with my good friend Jon Mills (who is seperately raising money for Coventry YFC).
I would be very grateful for your generousity and if you can consider you to consider supporting me in this adventure. The easiest way to offer financial support is through the JustGiving webpage. Alternatively, you can contact me by email robert.j.saunders@googlemail.com or by phone 07879999101 to offer support.
I also promise that I will carry my sponsorship form everywhere I go for the next 4 months. I'm not telling you that so you know to run & hide, but because I’d love you to sign up and stand with me financially as I take on this challenge and raise as much money as I can to support Hope 4 Rugby Charity.
