Story
“Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do” Steve Jobs
In January 2014, a group of students from the Oxford School of Hospitality Management - Oxford Brookes University and myself will be travelling to Kenya to explore social enterprise in action.
We will be looking at the influence that social enterprise can have on local communities and at how tourism and hospitality enterprises can be the driving force for social change.
We will travel to different regions in Kenya to examine the social impacts of projects that have been established by tour operator Adventure Alternative and its charity arm, Moving Mountains Trust. Projects that we will be visiting include schools, orphanages, youth rescue centers, sports clubs and HIV/Aids information centers/clinics.
This trip is made possible by the vision & generosity of Gavin Bate, (founder and Director of Adventure Alternative & Moving Mountains Trust) who recognises the importance of exposing students to alternative forms of entrepreneurship and is providing this trip at cost.
We ask you to donate generously: all the proceedings from these fundraising activities will go directly to Moving Mountains to fund their projects and ARE NOT used to subsidise the trip.
