Story
On 31st July, Adrian Kennedy and I will be taking part in the Prudential Rode London-Surrey 100 mile cycle challenge, representing and fundraising for the Mad Hatter's Children's Charity (and yes, we will be wearing bright pink jerseys).
The Mad Hatter's Children's Charity is dedicated to bringing smiles to the faces of children with special educational needs and disabilities accross the Midlands.
2016 is the Mad Hatter's tenth anniversary. The charity works hard providing free fun and exciting educational days out for over 2000 children every year, working with over 90 special schools.
The Charity's main annual events for children include:
Mad Hatter's Summer Tea Party at Birmingham Botanical Gardens: this is the Mad Hatter's biggest day out of the year and supports over 1,000 children with special educational needs and disabilities.
Each year the gardens are transformed into a magical wonderland filled with face painters, singers, dancers, workshops, circus entertainers, fairground rides, music, sports, games and lots more.
Mad Hatter's Christmas Party at Dudley Zoo: Mad Hatter's spread Christmas cheer to over 300 children with special educational needs and disabilities with a visit to the zoo to meet santa.
Mad Hatter's also support a range of other one-off and smaller projects.
All of the activities are picked especially to be both fun and educational. With special workshops, the Mad Hatter's helps childen with sensory needs and with the development of their fine motor skills.
The children's confidence levels are also increased dramatically while attedning Mad Hatter's events after making new friends, developing social skills and becoming more independent.
I am a trainee solicitor with respected Midlands legal firm Wright Hassall LLP and Adrian is an in-house solicitor for Midlands property development group St Francis Group and demolition company DSM Demolition.
The Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 is a gruelling 100 mile challenging cycle ride taking in not only the sites of London but also the famous Box Hill and Leigh Hill in Surrey.
We hope that you agree that the challenge being tackled by Adrian and me is worthy of support and that you will give generously in support of the great work that the Mad Hatter's Children's Charity does for children with special educational needs and disabilities in the Midlands area.
