room501, independent publishers of BQ and Luxe magazine in the North East, have joined forces with children’s charity Variety to build a bus for needy youngsters and community groups in the region.

But we’ll be getting on our bikes to do it not to mention heading to the golf course with a number of high-profile charity events across the year that we’d like you, our readers, to help support.

room501, responsible for some of the largest and most successful magazines in the region, has become one of the first sponsors of Variety the children’s charity’s (formerly Variety Club) latest marketing campaign; Build a Bus, where companies pledge their support over a period of two years in order to literally pay for a specialist Sunshine Coach, piece by piece.

The campaign asks corporate sponsors to pledge their support to purchase all aspects of a Sunshine Coach within a two year period, by running fund-raising activities that will generate the much-needed cash to buy the bus. Once raised, this enables a new bus to be given to one of the region’s needy causes.

So help us build the bus by giving us your donation no matter how small as it all helps. Even the smallest of amounts might be the equivalent of donating a wheel nut on the bus!

ZIP Wire Across the Wear
Sat 21st April 2012

Michael Ganley,of MacDonald-Martin Fire & Safety Consultants has kindly agreed to take part in an SAFC Foundation Challenge to hurl himself off the top of the Stadium of Light down a 250m zip wire which is 45m up in the air to Liebherr Cranes. This is the first event of its kind across the river. All money raised will be donated to our Build a Bus fund for Variety.
