Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.
My Dad was so dedicated to St Bede’s, and in particular anyone who might have drifted into trouble. His encouragement and support helped to set them on a different path, and to develop and realise their potential. This did not stop at the pupils - he always went that extra mile with families too! On the 10th anniversary of his death, my brother and I (both pupils at the school) organised a reunion for past pupils and staff attending St Bede's from 1962 - 1983 while he was head teacher.
We were blown away when just short of 200 people joined us at St. Bede's Inter-Faith school on Sat 15th October to pay their respects to our Dad and to be part of that incredible St Bede's family again that he created.
A massive thank you goes to the current head, Alistair Day and colleagues for welcoming us all with open arms. George would be very proud to see the school today continuing his caring and compassionate approach to education - believing that everyone deserved a chance and that everyone had something to contribute, but they just might not know it yet!
His two main passions in life were family and St. Bede's. He was also an incredible fundraiser. I am therefore raising funds in support of St.Bede's Inter-Faith School, and in particular to establish an award at the school in his memory. I am also raising fund for the charity that I run, Accessible Arts & Media as he was passionate about the work that I do and recognised that I was following in his footsteps helping to level the playing field for those in need.
Thanks to the generosity of those attending the reunion we raised an impressive £150. It would be amazing to raise at least £500, which will be split equally by St. Bede's and Accessible Arts & Media. It has not been possible to set up a separate page for St Bede's; I will therefore forward your donations onto the school.
