We vaccinate and neuter dogs in Jaipur to prevent humans from dying of rabies

Story

This August I will be spending a month doing a placement at Help In Suffering in Jaipur. They are a charity dedicated to helping the animals of Jaipur with 6 welfare projects currently running including a working camel clinic, animal birth control, rescuing + rehoming and a first opinion practice. Since being founded in 1980 the charity now employs about thirty-five staff and has three rescue ambulances and two mobile clinic vehicles. As they are kindly letting me visit and learn from them, I am hoping to raise some funds to help them continue their amazing work. A small donation from us in the West can go a long way for the clinic - For example a spay and vaccination for a dog is about £6. A junior veterinary surgeon earns about £200 per month; an experienced vet nurse around £100. Vaccinating a dog against rabies costs a little over £1. All funds I raise will go to the clinic as my personal costs have been covered by myself and the University.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Every year 61000 people die from rabies. 99% of cases of human rabies are caused by dog bites. Our team of vets vaccinate the dog population of Jaipur to control rabies and prevent spread to humans. We also run veterinary clinics treating working horses, donkeys, camels, cows and wildlife.
