I am running the Virgin London Marathon in April on behalf of Sheffield Mencap to raise funds to help support them in the brilliant work they do.

Sheffield Mencap provides help and support to people with disabilities and their families throughout the city. Their vision is that all people with a learning disability and their carers in Sheffield feel valued, included and respected. They believe that everyone should be supported to reach their full potential and to live the life they choose, and they provide a range of services to help people achieve this.

It is a charity that is very close to my heart, as they have provided a great deal of help and support to my family over the years. My youngest sister Marsha has severe disabilities and Mencap have helped provide advice and information with regards to her care. In particular, Sheffield Mencap’s Sharing Caring Project has been invaluable to us, as it offers advice, support and financial assistance to carers of people with disabilities. My Uncle Lee also has learning difficulties, and, through Mencap, he has been able to access a service which provides a key worker to take him out on day trips four days a week, which he absolutely loves!

I would be extremely grateful if you could help me in raising money to help this wonderful charity to continue their invaluable work. Every little helps, so anything you can spare would be gratefully received!
