Story

18 Sep 2011

Hello you have reached the main page for Rosie Reed who sadly died earlier this month. You can make a donation to St Christopher's Hospice on this page, however please click "Read more" to read the full message and see links to alternative cancer charities.

Whether you knew Rosie for a long time or not you probably remember what a wonderfully joyful and giving person she was and she is so missed by her family and friends.

Rosie fought very bravely against ovarian cancer for the past two years and did not complain once during all the treatments and suffering she underwent. She was looked after brilliantly by a number of doctors, from her GP to her surgeon and then St Bartholomew's hospital led by Professor Iain McNeish and his wonderful team of doctors and nurses.  When unfortunately it became clear that further chemotherapy was unlikely to work and Rosie consequently became very sick she came under the care of St Christopher's Hospice where after care at home she then spent the last three weeks of her life. It is hard to praise St Christopher's enough, their combination of medical expertise in palliative care and compassion made all the difference to Rosie and let her end her days as comfortably as possible and with peace of mind for both herself and her family.

Hence if you would like to make a donation to St Christopher's it would be going to a very worthwhile cause particularly since they need to raise a lot of money from donations to keep going.  However, there are also two alternative charities to which you may prefer to donate and which we are sure Rosie would be very happy to support namely Ovarian Cancer Action and Cancer Research UK (where the money will be specified for Ovarian Cancer). These are also two very worthwhile charities where you would be helping towards making women more aware of the silent threat of ovarian cancer and hopefully to finding some better treatments and God willing a cure.  Unfortunately we can't add these charities directly to this page but if you click on either of these links below you will be taken directly to the relevant page where you can make your donation.

Alternatively if you would prefer to donate by cheque then please contact the funeral directors J&R Killick Ltd on 0208 777 4502 who will guide you on what is necessary.

Thank you so much for reading this and for any donations. We hope that your happy memories of Rosie will always stay with you, and take this opportunity to thank all our friends, family, schools and work colleagues whose support has been so fantastic, Robert, Alex, Tom, Ben and Joe
