Story
Imagine a day when you didn’t see anyone, when no one phoned, or e mailed or texted or tweeted or face booked you… when you had no contact with another person from getting up to going to bed. Now imagine that the next day was the same, and the next and the next….
Mary doesn’t need to imagine, this is how it is every day of her life…..’
Loneliness affects 4, 000 older people in Rotherham every day of their lives. It reduces their quality of life and often leaves them feeling isolated, depressed and unable to cope with living independently.
The partners in the Rotherham Less Lonely Campaign are trying to change this…
Please help us to help people like Mary be less lonely in Rotherham by fundraising for us.
By helping to raise funds for the Rotherham Less Lonely Campaign you will help us to:
Continue to provide services through Age UK Rotherham that support older people who are lonely
Continue to raise awareness of this issue and help other people in the community to take action to help lonely older people in their local area.
For example:
£100 supports Age UK Rotherham to train a volunteer befriender.
£20 enables us to take an older person who cannot get out and about out to socialise and have fun.
£5 supports a volunteer to visit an older person who is lonely.
£1 pays for one daily phone call by a volunteer to chat to an older person.
