Story
Brenda, Alex and Emily welcome donations in memory of Roy.
Roy enjoyed everything associated with sailing, since learning to sail as a teenager with scouts. After Brenda and Roy married, their first home had just a cooker, bed and a racing dinghy (what more do you need!?) Their adventures included racing the passenger ferry across the Solent to the Isle of Wight, and many happy holidays spent in France with Al & Em.
When they retired, Roy & Brenda signed up for a trip on the Challenger with Tall Ships in 2009 for their 40th wedding anniversary. Both gained a Competent Crew qualification. Later that year the family chartered a yacht out of Gibraltar and Roy become a certified Day Skipper.
From his own experiences sailing as a teenager, Roy learnt the value and importance of being part of a team, taking responsibility, thinking of others and rising to a challenge. He would often sum people up by saying "they could be on my boat in a storm". Brenda's career led her to teach disabled people, and so the work of the Tall Ship's Youth Trust has extra meaning.
We would like to thank our friends and family for their support, love, flowers and food! We look forward to sharing our happy memories together.
