In April 2015 we are joining a team of volunteers from The Amos Trust who are travelling to Palestine to help a local family and community rebuild a demolished home. We are taking part in this project to highlight the injustice of Palestinian homes being demolished by the Israeli authorities. This is an act of support for Palestinians working non-violently for a just peace. We want to support those whose lives have been hurt by the destruction of their home and the attempted demolition of their right to be safe and respected. Home really is where the heart is, it's loss can break your heart. The Amos Trust need to raise £25,000 to pay for the home rebuild, and our personal target is to raise a minimum of £4,000 towards this.
£5 pays for 20 concrete blocks and the house needs 10,000 of them; £10 pays for a bag of cement and 150 of those are needed. £60 will pay for the toilet and £130 will buy the water tank.
For every donation offered we will take a steel ball bearing with us. A ball bearing is perfectly round, like the world we all share. It's purpose is to 'reduce friction and support heavy loads'. These will be poured into the foundations of the new house as it is being constructed. Your support will become a physical part of its foundations.
