Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page set up in memory of Roy Deane.

During April 2012 I will be undertaking a 470 mile cycle ride from my home in Ripe near Lewes, Sussex to Newcastle Upon Tyne in order to mark the first anniversary of the untimely death of my uncle, Roy Deane.

The ride will span 10 cycling days and involve a mixture of on and off road terraine encompassing many tough remote sections across the Pennines and North Yorkshire moors.

Roy was a keen caver; all monies raised will benefit the Upper Wharfdale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) who in 1992 at Sleet's Gill, successfully undertook one of the most audacious cave rescues in Britain and saved the lives of both Roy and his close friend Les Hewitt and are the organisation which, for the subsequent 19 years, Roy always felt indebted to.

Established in 1948 UWFRA are a voluntary organisation reliant on public donations. The money raised will go towards the vital equipment they require to continue operating and ,importantly, so they can keep on saving lives.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now, you'll be giving to a great cause, many thanks again, Russell.
