Story
We are a group of people of various ages and abilities who all have Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Most of us met for the first time on the 1st July 2013 to learn how to overcome MS using the “Overcoming MS” programme developed by Professor George Jelinek. We are benefitting from this programme and from the ongoing support we receive from each other and the Overcoming MS team.
We now want to support the Overcoming MS charity so that it can further its cause to spread the word to the MS community so that the program is accessible to more people.
Although we’re all much healthier now, few of us can run 26.2 miles but we can all do a bit. On Friday 1st July exactly 3 years since we met we’re going to do a shared marathon, spread over three continents and by running, walking, cycling (on the road, an exercise bike or a unicycle), swimming or whatever else works for each of us.
The Launde Abbey Overcomers (and some friends we’ve picked up along the way) will start the marathon in Australia and each do a bite of it as the clock sweeps round the world through Sweden, Switzerland, Britain and Ireland, ending in the USA.
Please will you sponsor us – Sandra running in Australia, Ruth walking in Switzerland, Jack and Silvia running in Switzerland, Claes and Malin running in Sweden, Helen unicycling in Sweden, Micke kayaking in Sweden, Kate, Alia and Debbie swimming in England, Catriona and Arthur walking in England, Jane-Marie tricycling in England, Dave and Rae walking in America, Shirley cycling on an exercise bike in England, Andrea cycling in England, Charlotte walking in England, Jess running in Ireland, Donna walking and running in the USA and Ingrid running in Central Park, New York - so that Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis can continue to help people learn that MS can be overcome.
