Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Blake was born on the 23rd May 2015. He was born 8 weeks pre term and weighed 4 lb 11oz. When we arrived at Rotherham hospital at the start of the labour on Thursday 21st May Rotherham special care baby unit (SCBU) was over crowded and there was no cot available for Blake. The closest hospital with a spare cot was Grimsby, we were transferred by ambulance at 3am on Friday 22nd May.
After a long and tiresome labour Blake arrived at 4:25pm on Saturday 23rd May. Due to breathing difficulties he was rushed into the ICU where he spent 5 days being treated by the amazing doctors and nurses before being transferred back to Rotherham SCBU where Blake spent a further 18 days.
During this time the doctors and nurses took amazing care of Blake and also supported myself and Mel through a difficult and upsetting time. Every member of staff was extremely caring and compassionate and it was easy to see their passion and commitment in what they were doing, despite the extremely long hours, they always wore a smile.
We wanted to do something to show our appreciation and give a little something back after they had given us so much.
A group of us have decided to complete the Yorkshire 3 peaks climb, with an added challenge.... it is not part of a normal organised party with an experienced guide, we will be navigating the Peaks ourself. We will be starting at 5am on Saturday 2nd April and WILL complete the 3Peaks (25Miles) within 12 hours.
Any donations are greatly appreciated and will be going to a fantastic cause. The SCBU staff are a truly amazing group of people that save lives.
Thank you so much.
