Story
Samuel is 4 and lives in Long Clawson. He has been in and out of hospital his whole life due to a faulty immune system. He has just undergone a Bone Marrow Transplant in the Bubble Unit in Newcastle. For 4 months he had to live in a bubble of sterile air in room just 10ft square and could not be kissed. To touch or hold him required surgical hand washing and wearing a gown and cap. However he was supported by the Bubble Foundation Charity which raises funds for medical equipment, sterile toys and educational aids, and importantly funds research into immunological conditions to save more babies and children in the future.
Due to the recession the charity is in crisis and may fold and we desperately don't want this to happen for all the other children currently needing its help now and in the future. The centre is one of only two specialist bubble units for immunologically sick children in the UK and treats children from all over the world. Children treated in the bubbles have a variety of immune disorders but their underlying conditions mean that simple colds or viruses can be life threatening.
Samuel and his family and friends are going to raise as much money as they can over the next year for the Bubble Foundation.
