Story
To run the London Marathon is a dream come true... I loved X-country and rowing when I was young, in my 20's I turned to extreme-sports and nowadays simply love to hike in the mountains and generally be outdoors. For many years I tried to get a marathon ballot place (lots of 'no' letters) then I started to think if I don't do this before I'm 45 years old I probably never will.
My running dropped off completely in 2013 while I got my head around skin-cancer and anosmia, I was thinking the worst and needed to get back to the right mind-set. Then one day the charity I was working for at the time said they had a marathon place. At 44 years I put on my old tennis trainers and puffed 1 mile along a trail, I thought I am never going to make this! Slowly I've built up over 4 months, I am hitting the trails 3-4 times a week, I've clocked up over 100 miles in training, lost 9lbs and feel fitter and happier than I've done in years - I feel 20 years younger (just no extreme stuff!)
I am so happy to have a place and I'm so excited for what this experience brings. It's been one step at a time and one step closer everyday to being the best mum and partner I can be. Thank you to my loving family and my friends - I could not do this without you <3
