Story
So in a moment of madness I agreed to run the London Marathon this year. I'm a late entry (which will be no surprise to most people who know me) and no wine was involved in the decision (that will be a surprise). I haven't run for two years, so I am pounding the pavements, tracks and muddy fields to catch up, currently running about 25 miles a week, which will need to increase to 35 plus miles... eek.
So i need to make this count for my chosen charity. I am raising money for St Elizabeths a local centre and a national charity through which I have personally experienced the life changing support and care they provide to both adults and children.
St Elizabeths is the only charity in the UK caring for people with epilepsy, autism and other complex needs from the age of 5, providing care for 200 children and adults based in Much Hadham
Epilepsy can affect anyone at any age, in the UK epilepsy affects approximately one person in every 103 people.
This is small relatively unknown charity, doing fantastic work locally with its invaluable, additional work entirely dependent on charitable donations. Small charity's struggle to compete with the big charities in the big events because the advertising packages are just too pricey. Indeed to even have a place in such a big event is a significant investment and so I'd really like to make my place count for them and I know that every penny I raise will be used to make a difference directly.
