Story

Hi Everyone!

I looked in the mirror about 2 weeks ago and I didn't look like myself anymore. I decided it was time to do something about it. I have been to weight watchers in the past and succeeded, but I lost myself along the way. Willpower went out the window and I ended up putting the weight back on. Eating when I was bored didn't help much either!

I have always had a problem with willpower so I thought of ways to overcome it. The best thing I could think of, besides not listening to the "oooooooohhhh naughty food" noises calling me from the fridge, was to set up a Just Giving page. For every pound in weight I drop, I will donate €1 to the Irish Hospice Foundation. If other people want to donate as I lose, it will be a good way to raise money to a fabulous cause.

I joined Slimming World last week and I will be going every Tuesday for the nerve trembling weigh in! I will put my progress up on my facebook page and on here if I can find a way how after I've created this. I'm not brave enough to tell you my starting weight as its atrocious, but I will show proof from my little Slimming World book (and hopefully awards) each week if I have lost or gained anything.

I have chosen this charity in memory of my dad who died of cancer in 2006. He fell ill in May, and then died in August. It happened very quick and it was a hard time for all of us. I shut down my emotions that day and I haven't really been the same since. My dad was amazing. He had the most widest and warmest smile, gave the best hugs, and had miming to "Try a Little Tenderness" down to a fine art! Everybody loved my dad.

His final days were in the Northwest Hospice in Sligo. The staff were so lovely and supportive to him and my family. It would have been so much harder without them. They were there to talk to, they gave dad massages and didn't harass him. They made sure he was comfortable in any way they could. They are primarily funded by donations so I thought I would use this page to donate to the Irish Hospice Foundation. All around the country, these amazing people look after our dads, our mums, our family and friends. They gave such love to my dad, I thought that the little bit of money I can raise, can help another family.

Hopefully dad will be proud of me for doing this.

So lets start this whirlwind adventure!!! Let Sally's Slimming Story commence!!
