Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our page! We both work for Trafford Victim Support alongside a wonderful team who work incredibly hard to provide high quality services to survivors of domestic abuse and their children.
In August 2016 (specific date to follow once confirmed) we have decided to throw ourselves out of a plane from between 10,000 and 15,000ft, although we are not quite sure how wise our decision making skills are in relation to this! Here's a little insight as to why!
Domestic abuse describes a pattern of negative behaviour that one person exhibits over another within families or relationships. A person may use forms of intimidation, threats, violence towards their partner to establish and exert power and control. In reality, domestic abuse does not discriminate and can impact anyone irrespective of their race, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation or economic status.
Sadly, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime and on average 2 women a week are killed by an abusive partner or ex partner in England and Wales.
The aim of this skydive is to ensure that survivors have the choices to live free from abuse.
Any funds donated will go towards our "Buy Them Time" fund which is a scheme that aims to help keep survivors and their children safe. This could be funding transport to safe accommodation, extra security so that they can feel safer in their own home or court orders to keep the abuser away from them.... to name just a few.
Please could we ask that you dig deep into your pockets to support our cause!!!! Wish us luck - we are going to need it from 10,000 to 15,000ft high in the sky!
