Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 24th April I will take to the streets of London to run the marathon. It will be my biggest ever physical challenge, not just on the day but in the four months running up to it, as I'll need to cover around 400 miles in preparation. Training has begun, is going well so far despite the rain and strangely I'm excited about it!
I will be running for a small charity, Action for A-T which was set up by friends in our village, whose daughter Evie has the disease, Ataxia Telangiectasia . A-T is a very rare, progressive, degenerative and complex disease affecting a variety of different systems in the body. There is no cure for A-T, and there is currently no way to slow the progression of the disease. By ten most children with the disease are dependent on wheelchairs. Donations to the charity go to funding research projects to speed up the process of identifying a cure for A-T or treatments that delay or prevent the disabling effects of the condition.
I'm pretty sure this will be my only marathon, but who knows! One thing is for sure and that is that I won't come to you again with my begging bowl, so I hope you'll be able to support me in my challenge of helping the children and their parents affected by A-T.
