Story
Our mum has recently been diagnosed with Lung Cancer. This is something that came as a shock to the whole family as she is such a healthy woman. Since her diagnoses we have had ups and downs and faced the most difficult n worrying times of our lives. Luckily we are a close family and she has alot of support and people surrounding her with positive thoughts and reasurrance. Our mum is such a kind, thoughtful and loving person and anyone that knows her will agree she is totally amazing. We understand people have to deal with things like this but it never really hits home until it happens to one of the most important people in your life. We have seeked advice and support from both the NHS and private care who are doing everything they can to hurry things along and find a suitable and effective treatment for my mum, however, every day feels like a week and we sympathise with each and every family tha face the wait and worry each and every day. We researched charities that deal with cancer research and treatment, as well as supporting people with cancer and their families and I know any cancer charity will use any money wisely to help others in this situation. I am aware swimming a mile in a month is not a huge thing to do, however, I am 8 months pregnant and due my first baby (first grand child) in just 6 weeks. Therefore I can't take on anything huge this time round and I want to get this done and donated before my due date. Once the baby has arrived I plan on giving so much more to charity and finding ways to help others. My sister will be taking part in this event to help raise as much money as possible and hopefully go beyond our target. Just today (25/8/15) we have had the best support, advice and help from both the hospitals we are raising for. We think this is a sign, so we want to give back to them evn more than before now. I want people to be aware or signs and symptoms as well as having the opportunity for support and treatment. I hope you can help as every donation will make a difference. Thanks for taking the time to read this page.
