St Patricks' Catholic Church in Bradford is now the oldest and only remaining Catholic Church in use in the City Centre.
Built in the 1850's by Irish immigrants, escaping the potato famine in Ireland, it has served the city for many years. It is now in a state of disrepair and in need of refurbishment. Operated under the Diocese of Leeds, in the St Joseph's Parish, by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, an Evangelistic order of Friars who have been renovating the property whilst living in the old convent, from which they operate a food kitchen a clothes swap for the poor and homeless of the area, providing meals and sandwiches, to between 60 and 100 people daily. From a small Chapel in the old presbytery the Friars provide daily Mass during the week.
We are undertaking a sponsored walk on 6th August 2016 across the highest Three Peaks in Yorkshire to raise funds to support the renovation programme. The walk is 25 miles long and climbs Penyghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. This is an arduous challenge which will take up to 12 hours and we would like to ask for your generous support.
