Story
I (Sue) am writing this on Scott's behalf. Scott has well and truly been bitten by the cycling bug and as a result decided to sign up for the Etape Caledonia. At first Scott's motivation was to focus training and achieve the distance and he was adamant he didn't want to ask anyone for sponsorship. That was until we heard about the Eilidh Brown foundation.
In January this year we were invited to go along to the "For the Love of Eilidh" Concert. Not knowing anything but the amazing line up for the evening we went along thinking we would just enjoy a wee night out. Little did we know we were in for a special and super poignant night that we will never ever forget.
Eilidh Brown was a beautiful teenage girl who lost her battle with cancer just short of her 16th birthday. Having been so effected by their devastating loss Eilidh's family wanted somehow to help others and make sure that Eilidh's legacy would continue. The family set up the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund with the aim of building a purpose built, beautiful property that would provide respite for families of young people across the UK who are having treatment, recovering from cancer or who have suffered a similar loss. After being really touched by Eilidh's story and the strength of this special girl's family Scott's inspiration to get round the cycling course has changed.
So...while he may not like asking himself, Hamish and I would like to ask you to support Scott in his cycle but above all to take a wee moment to read Eilidh's story and if you have any spare pennies please donate anything you can to support the inspiring goal held by Eilidh's parents and the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund.
Thank you so much,
Sue & Hamish Aikman xx
