Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday 5th September I and a friend will walking the entire 33 miles of the Stone Circle Challenge. I am doing this to raise funds for Staffordshire Women's Aid, a fantastic charity that provides refuge and help to abused women and children. We will be starting from Salt at 6am and estimate it will take around 13 hours. The aim is to be back in Salt by 7pm for a couple of well deserved pints.

Women's Aid are currently raising funds to build a new refuge and require £80,000. This project is personal to me; the refuge is to be named ForWard House after Stephen Ward, someone who will no doubt remain dearly missed to most reading this.

I'm not one for chasing people for money and donations but want to do my bit towards this project and in memory of 'Wardy'. Anything I can raise will be a bonus.

Thank you.

About the charity

Staffordshire Women's Aid is a charitable and voluntary organisation that has been providing services for women and children living with, fleeing or recovering from the impact of domestic and sexual violence since 1976. We aim to support and empower women and children towards safer, more independent lives, free from violence and abuse. To achieve our charitable objectives, we provide the following services, delivered by a team of trained, specialist staff and volunteers across Staffordshire: Our Services include: • 24 Hour Helpline • Safe Refuge Accommodation • Domestic Violence Community Outreach Service • Children and Young People’s Support Service • SURVIVE Sexual Violence Service While our work is situated within the violence against women and girls agenda, we also offer services to male victims of abuse which are appropriately provided in safe, separate venues. Nearly 40 years on, we remain a grass roots, user-led organisation, placing at the heart of our work the views of the women and children we work with. We are extremely proud to have been awarded the Women’s Aid Federation of England National Quality Standard.
