Story
David and I are running the Edinburgh Marathon on 29th May 2016, in memory of David's mum; Liz Nichol and to show support to my mum Jeanette Cooke.
Jeanette was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2015. So far she has had 2 rounds of surgery, the latter being successful and she has received radiotherapy treatment. My mum has been super strong and put on a brave face despite what she is having to endure she is so positive!.
Liz passed away on 18th September 2015 from cancer called
Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct/liver cancer).
Liz started having problems in 2012 and was formally diagnosed with cancer in 2013. She put up a brave fight, with odds stacked up against her.
We are both in debt to Liz, she taught us so much and was always there for us. She always put others before herself and those that had the pleasure of meeting her always speak highly of her. She worked as a nurse all her life and some of her colleagues, who she tutored/mentored, provided her treatment, it was so lovely hearing her colleagues say comments such as "she made the nurse I am today".
We are raising money for two Charities, AMMF who support research into Cholangiocarcinoma Cancer and do incredible work to raise awareness. Jeanette had been regularly travelling to Sheffield for her Radiotherapy treatment, so we are also raising money for Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust, who are raising funds to bring a Radiotherapy unit to Doncaster. We would really appreciate your support to help this charity.
Whilst we do keep ourselves fit, I can assure you we are not long distance runners! However the perseverance which both mums have shown will carry us to the finish line!
Massive thank you for your support Selena & David
