I am fundraising for Selfless UK, a charity that aims to address the challenges in healthcare around the world. This summer, myself and a group of amazing medical students will be taking part in their Elective Aid programme and travelling to the rural villages of Bangladesh to set up health camps and provide free healthcare and medication to those that need it most. We will be seeing and treating up to 1000 individuals a day at the camps, alongside qualified doctors and healthcare professionals. 

It is a sad reality that Bangladesh has some of the highest maternal and child mortality rates and this year we will particularly be focusing on maternal health issues including nutrition, pregnancy and birth. There are two major factors contributing to this shocking statistic– the healthcare provider shortage and lack of access to care, both factors which we hope to address. 

Your funds will go straight towards maintaining these free health camps and providing treatment to the thousands of patients we will see on our trip. There will be regular updates on all social media, blog posts on the Selfless website and videos of our trip to show you all where your donations are going and the impact it will make on peoples lives. Please donate whatever you can, as every donation will make a difference.
