Story
Hi, thanks for visiting my page.
As most of you know, my good friend Huma sadly lost her 7 year old nephew in October 2015. In his memory, we will be undertaking a series of adventures this year! Culminating in an epic adventure in October 2016. Her friends and family will hopefully be joining us on some of these too.
Go team "Cam's Climbers!"
We will be undertaking a series of hikes covering most of the beautiful countryside of Surrey and it's surrounding areas. Including:
1. Leith Hill
2. Box Hill
3. South Downs
4. Devils Punchbowl
5. Scafell Pike (the highest mountain in England)
6. Mount Snowdon - AT NIGHT!! (The highest mountain in Wales)
And finally the big one...KILIMANJARO!!!!!
Mount Kilimanjaro is the largest free-standing mountain in the world at 5895 metres - a dormant volcano. We will be taking the Lemosho route - which will take 6 days to go up and 2 days to come down. We will be camping along the way! (We have never gone camping before eeek!)
We will reach the Summit (Uhuru Peak) on the morning of the 27th October 2016 in time to watch the sunrise - which will be a poignant moment, as this will be the anniversary of Cameron's passing.
Encountering 4 climate zones: Rain-forest; Heather & Moorland; Alpine desert and finally Summit climate - Arctic conditions!! Hopefully we will see many amazing animals en route too!
I am so excited to be doing this with my friend Huma in memory of her nephew Cameron. Huma felt that this would be a lovely way to remember Cameron, as he loved volcanoes, animals, nature and camping!
As anyone who knows me well, you will know what a huge challenge this is for me as I have a phobia of heights, so all your support and encouragement will mean so much! Thank you in advance.
Watch out for the updates on my facebook and instagram.
Please support our year of adventures by helping me to raise money for Allergy UK, on behalf of Cameron. It is important to make people aware about the seriousness of allergies and how they can affect peoples lives.
Allergy UK is the leading national charity providing advice, information and support for those with allergies and food intolerances. They act as the 'voice' of allergy sufferers, representing those affected by this multi organ disease.
If anyone also has any equipment that they think they could loan for the trip that would be great - get in touch! :)
