Story
I've grown up seeing poverty all around me while being personally very privileged to have gone to the best schools and enjoyed top facilities. Majority of children in India weren't and aren't as lucky as me. 34 children are born in India per minute and the majority are born disadvantaged. Half of India's 200 million+ children are illiterate nor have the opportunity to rise above this. Pratham helps bring education to as many remote rural areas as possible - so far, they've helped educate 35 million disadvantaged children.
I believe it's every child's right to have access to education and know this can help secure a brighter future for both the child and India. It's our best shot at fighting inequality and slowly but surely beating it.
On a personal note, my upcoming 20 mile adventure through the forest is a huge milestone for me! 10 years ago I shattered / dislocated my left ankle and broke my tibia in 21 spots. The doctors clearly advised that any major extended physical activity would never be possible for me - my first bursts of training made me think they might have been right! I nearly changed my mind. However, I am determined to complete this walk and hopefully make a real difference to a cause I truly believe in.
Do jump on board and support me, in whatever way you wish.
