Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I do not talk about my condition much but I want to share my story to raise awareness. I was injured in 2009 and my life was changed
forever. It took the NHS 5years to discover I had irreparable nerve damage in my left ankle and finally in 2014 they diagnosed me with Type 2 Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).
I have had 7 surgeries in 2 years with minimal improvement. Little is known or understood about the condition and I now have no other options for treatment. So I will be recording my recovery from a Spinal Cord Stimulator I had implanted in January, this is designed to help with the pain so I can walk and return to running. I am bionic but I am lucky to have minimal suffering in comparison to others I have met with the
condition. I am determined to achieve my life goal- to run a marathon.
I have met people that have lost all mobility, live in constant pain and are unable to carry out everyday activities, often the only option is to stay in bed and rest until the flare up passes. I want to fight to show people you can still realise your dreams regardless of the challenges you face. I will participate in races throughout the year so please watch out for my updates. This will culminate in running the Robin Hood Marathon on Sunday 25th September.
Please donate what you can. Pain Concern provides vital support to those that need it most with helplines, newsletters and vital training and education to improve the lives of CRPS sufferers. I can say from personal experience there is a shocking lack of support and reassurance. It takes years to get treatment and your life is turned upside down with no chance of a cure.
Please help to fund this amazing charity and raise awareness of this
condition.
