Story
Latest update: We did it! We took the world record by 2.5hours! Our results are posted here: http://www.enduroman.com/a2arelayresults.html. We left Marble Arch in Hyde Park at 15h30 on Sunday 18th July 2010, ran 87 miles to Dover, swam across the Channel on 19th July neap tide and then cycled 181 miles to Arc de Triomphe in Paris where our supporters (Trevor, Clare, Nicola, Sara & Sue) rewarded us with cold champagne :-) To read about our progress - see: http://pub38.bravenet.com/forum/static/show.php?usernum=3187759048&frmid=98&msgid=816165&cp=1&cmd=show
This event, organised by Enduroman and known as Arch to Arc, is the most grueling and challenging endurance event and one that will test the body and mind of the most experienced ultra endurance athletes. The clock starts at Marble Arch and stops at Arc de Triomphe and undertaking this as a relay, we hope to beat the current world record of 39 hours and 45 mins set by British Military all mens team earlier this month.
By doing this and through your generous support, we hope to raise as much as we can for The Connection at St Martin's where over 95% of every donation is spent directly on services for homeless people - helping the most vulnerable homeless people to move away from the streets and access the facilities they need. It currently costs £4.5 million a year to keep The Connection at St Martin’s open and provide the facilities that will help over 5,500 homeless people.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to The Connection at St Martin's and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now and every contribution will spur us on to give it our all!
A big thank you from Marion & all the Team
