Story
Ian Sherwood spent his entire working career in the shipping industry and was widely known and well respected. His entrepreneurial spirit led to him taking the decision to set up his own company in 1987. Now known as DeltaMeco Crewing Services, it grew into a flourishing business, boasting a global presence with crew management interests in over 50 vessels.
With a specialist interest in seafarer industrial relations, in 1998 Ian took the decision to make DeltaMeco one of the key companies involved in the creation of the IMEC/ITF Forum for negotiating contractual terms of seafarers employed aboard FOC vessels, which was the pre-cursor for the International Bargaining Forum (IBF). He then went on to spend 9 years as the spokesman and chief negotiator for the employers’ group within the IBF, as well as four years as the IMEC Chair.
Ian’s legacy has now been left in the capable hands of his eldest son, Paul Sherwood. Paul had the honour and privilege of working alongside his father for more than a decade and is just as committed to both DeltaMeco and the shipping industry as a whole.
