Story
For 34 years Ray served with the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue service, as a Firefighter, Officer and finally as Divisional Commander until his retirement in 1999. During these years he helped to save many lives.
On the 4th December 2015 it was time for him to start fighting again. This time for his own life. Ray suffered a massive heart attack. After being shocked 11 times with the help of paramedics, doctors and nurses his heart began to beat again, and so for the tireless work on that day and the days that followed. We, Rays wife Julie, sisters Marion, Irene, Shirley and Joan, brothers in law Ian and Kevin, nieces Nicola and Andrea, nephews Gareth, Mark and Alfie, joined by some friends, have decided to put on our walking shoes and walk a thirteen mile stretch of canal from Westport lake to Denford near Leek to raise money for the U.H.N.S CORONARY CARE UNIT. Ray will be joining us at the beginning for a few miles and again at the end for a couple of miles accompanied by our dear sister in law Shirley. This is our way of saying a huge THANK YOU..... And not forgetting Pepper the springer spaniel who will be running twice as far and her best friend Boomer the cocker spaniel.
So please help us to reach our target, any donation big or small would be very much appreciated, and don't forget if you are a UK tax payer to tick the gift aid box.
