Shirley's Barn Dance 2016, 15 October 2016

Story

I first came across the Contented Dementia (SPECAL) approach when I ran a support group for family carers of people with dementia, as part of my role as an occupational therapist in a memory clinic. Keen to find out more, I attended a course for professionals at the Trust's centre in Burford. Their counterintuitive approach began to transform my practice. I am currently training as a SPECAL Practitioner.

In my spare time I enjoy folk dancing and this is my third dance to raise awareness of the Trust and generate funds for its work. We raised almost £500 at the first dance and £1400 last year. We hope to do even better this time. Last year we danced a whole list of dances with unlikely-sounding names, all sponsored by local businesses. We hope to cover all the costs through sponsorship and donations again to maximise our profit for the Trust. This page is for donations only so that they can be Gift Aided. Please contact me separately for tickets.
