We help children who are deaf to listen, speak and achieve

Story

Activism is one of BBYO UK key ideologies and here at Shorashim this is no difference.

Auditory Verbal UK is a special charity for one of our chanichim, James Curtis. James was born with profound congenital bilateral hearing loss of unknown causes and began wearing hearing aids; he was implanted at 22 months old.

“When I was implanted there was the belief that a deaf person could learn to speak with just the implants, however this is not true. I needed speech therapy and this is where AV UK came in, my therapist Jacqueline stokes helped me to listen and talk and I’m really grateful to AV UK”

Our chanichim have been inspired about what AV UK has done for James and want to raise money for the charity. For 5 hours on Monday 3th August our chanichim are going to cross dress swapping clothes, makeup and shoes! We will keep you up-to-date on their progress.

Please help our chanichim reach their goal of £500 by donating via our Just giving page to AV UK.
