In memory of Gert de Jonge

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This page has been set up in memory of Gert de Jonge. Gert was one of the Calum’s Road motorbikers who made the journey from Scotland to Sambel Kunda in early 2010 to raise funds to enable The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust to build the road for the community.

Tragically, Gert died in an accident in October 2010 but will always be remembered by his friends, everyone at The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust and the communities who use Calum’s Road in the The Gambia.

His passing was a great shock and he will be sadly missed but his
great contribution to the development of this area of the country will
live on in people’s hearts and memories for many years to come.

Every year in December, the charity hold their annual horse show. We would like to sponsor a class in honour of Gert and his great affection for this wonderful charity.

About the charity

The charity helps to reduce extreme poverty in the rural areas by increasing the productivity of working horses and donkeys through welfare and management training. It provides basic veterinary assistance, teaches in schools and to farmers groups, and provides scholarships for paravets at college level.
