Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year I am running for 2 important charities close to my heart. As in previous years I will be supporting the Stephen Thompson Foundation in memory of my close friend who lost his battle with a rare Heart Condition called Giant Cell Myocarditis in 2011.
The charity continues to support great causes such as local grass roots youth football as well as continue to raise funds waiting to make a meaningful contribution to medical research into the rare heart condition.
My second cause this year is to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. On December 22nd 2015, Mary and I were blessed with a beautiful baby daughter Charlotte. Unfortunately after 5 days in the world she had to undergo bowel surgery, at which point she was diagnosed with the rare genetic condition CF. Devestating news. A life limiting disorder that causes a salt imbalance within the cells leading to a thick and sticky mucus that primarily impacts lung and digestive / pancreatic function.
At the moment she is doing great in part thanks to the great support we get from our medical team and the CF Trust, though we know we have a long road ahead.
The work that the CF Trust is doing is fantastic and medical advancements give us real hope that this disorder will be a thing of the past in our generation. It truly is an amazing charity and with continued investments makes a massive difference to our lives as well as the other 10,000 families in the UK wrestling with this challenge.
All contributions to our causes are muchly appreciated. 😃
Thanks
Simon
Logistically all donations will be transferred directly to the Stephen Thompson Foundation attached to JustGiving. The Stephen Thompson Foundation will then make a direct donations to 50% value of whatever we raise here to the CF Trust.
