Story
Anyone who knows me will know my answer to running a marathon has always been
“No way – Thank you – you would have to be crazy to do that :-)”
Well whilst I wasn’t paying attention somehow I have managed to end up with a place in this year’s London Marathon and now I am looking for support (and money :-)) – and actually, whilst sometimes very concerned about the day, I am grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to the experience (well mostly :-)).
I will be running to raise money for ‘The Playbarn Project’ a charity which aims to build sterile play environments for children with cancers and low immune systems.
Last year I joined ‘Target Fitness’ in Cheshunt and through the owner of this gym ‘Gary Johnson’ I have become aware of his daughter, Madison’s story. ‘The Playbarn Project’ was inspired by Madison when she developed leukaemia at the young age of 2 and spent 2 and a half years having treatment and chemotherapy. Madison inspired the project through her zest for life and by her parents observing the effect of
play on her road to recovery. She was treated at Great Ormond Street and Barnet Hospital, where although the medical aspect is very good , rehab and recovery can be improved by the introduction of play.
