Story
I was diagnosed with Breast and Lymph node cancer in December 2014. Having gone through theprocess of a mastectomy and chemotherapy, I completed the treatment with six weeksof radiotherapy in St. James's Hospital in Dublin staying in The Lodge at St.Luke's Hospital, Rathgar. Being so far from home and separatedfrom loved ones at such a vulnerable time was very daunting. However, the hospitality and services I received at The Lodge wasoverwhelming and greatly assisted me and my family at such a difficult time.
The Lodge and its facilities are available because of the donations from family and friends of people like me. Without the service The Friends of St Luke's provide, all patients living long distances from Dublinwould have to find alternative accommodation with the added stress and expensethis would incur. For this reason I took on this cycle challenge to give back part of what I received there, i.e. peace of mind.
I will leave Dublin on Friday 19 August and arrive in Killybegs the following evening.
Every cent donated is going straight to the Lodge.
Go raibh mile maith agat.
