My name is Skye. 

I am five years old and I live with my mum, dad and little brother, Jesse, in Abingdon. I love rainbow looms, Mister Maker, space jokes and playing practical jokes on my family and friends. 

In August 2013 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Since then, I have had a lot of treatment to try and cure my cancer. I have had brain surgery, four lots of chemotherapy and five weeks of radiotherapy in London. I then had to stay in isolation in hospital for almost two months when I had high dose chemotherapy. I have been looked after very well by my amazing Mum and Dad and the staff at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

The treatments I have gone through have stabilised my cancer. However they have also left me very weak and vulnerable. I am now paralysed from the neck down, but I'm not giving up! I want to help other children like me by raising money for research into my illness.

More about the cause

Brain tumours present a life changing experience. In children they are very rare, and unfortunately the prognosis is not very good. Current treatment involves surgery, plus a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but each of these have devastating consequences in terms of side effects, both in the short term and over the long term. Research is trying to establish new innovative ways to treat childhood brain tumours, but this requires funding.

Blue Skye Thinking is a Charity which supports research so that all children diagnosed with brain tumours, will have a better chance of survival and a better quality of life post treatment. The Charity is run by volunteers and all money donated goes directly to the forefront of Research and Treatment.
