Story
In 2011, the SHHS community raised enough sponsorship money to educate 448 girls for one year, or 34 girls for life (five to 18 years of age), in the developing world by walking 10k in support of ‘Because I Am A Girl,’ Plan UK’s charitable project that aims to break the cycle of poverty and discrimination through education. See our website for a taste of what the day was like, and the impact our action had. http://www.shhs.gdst.net/fundraising
This year, we’re doing it again!
On 28 March 2012, we will walk between the 2012 Olympic site and the Houses of Parliament, carrying water as a symbolic gesture of the chores that keep many young women out of school in some of the world’s poorest countries. This year we hope to raise even more money in aid of Plan UK’s ‘Take the Vow’ campaign - www.plan-uk.org/what-we-do/campaigns/because-i-am-a-girl/get-involved/take-the-vow
