UPDATE
A very big thank you to Appeal Partners the Thurlestone Hotel for their generous donation of £5,000, South Sands Hotel for spending their summer fundraising for this appeal and raising £2250 and the Salcombe Coastal Marathon runners and organisers for donating £800. Also to those supporting and taking part in the very successful charity golf day at Thurlestone Golf Club, which raised £3500, including Bartons Solicitors, Thurlestone Hotel, South Sands Hotel, St. Austell Brewery and the Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary Club.
ABOUT
While the path between Dartmouth and Bantham is walkable, urgent work is needed to repair or replace damaged footbridges and to re-route the path back close to the coast in places where it has been diverted inland due to cliff falls. Now that the appeal target of £20,000 has been reached The South West Coast Path Association will hold the funds as Devon County Council seek any appropriate permissions and carry out the works needed following which time the funds will be applied to projects in the area. This appeal fund remains open for anyone wishing to donate to an ongoing fund that is needed for future path improvements.
The South West Coast Path Association is a registered charity and has only recently taken a more proactive role in helping to secure the funding needed for projects and improvement works. This is the first appeal of this kind and the support has been really encouraging. We will keep the South Hams Fund open for future works and projects.
