We provide free dentistry in Burma to relief the suffering of the poor

Story

If you've ever had a toothache, you will know how painful and debilitating that can be. Imagine having to wait up to a week and spend a day’s wages to travel miles to see the nearest dentist. Then, due to the shortage of dentists, only the first 20 patients in the queue will be seen. The rest will be sent away. That is the reality for many of the people living in the Inle region of rural Burma.

Burmadent was set up to give greater access to dental care for the people of this region. The charity relies on a network of qualified dental care professionals who volunteer their time. They perform everything from emergency to routine and preventative dental procedures using the most basic dental equipment. Burmadent needs your help to provide simple basic necessities such as dental gloves, sterilising equipment and anaesthetic drugs.

Our purpose is to encourge dentists to volunteer short periods of time to provide dentistry to the poor and disadvantaged in Burma, in particular around Lake Inle. There is no access to dentistry and oral neglect is rife. We need to educate and treat the 200,000 people living on the Lake.
