Story
I want to raise funds to boost an exciting new Social Enterprise helping vulnerable people gain pre-employment skills with Caritas St Joseph.
- First they join as students and learn basic skills in a craft....currently; Ceramics, Soap-making and Woodwork.
- The second phase is as volunteers and they take on responsible
tasks in the Enterprise. - The third phase is when they are sufficiently competent they can become partners and are paid for the permitted working hours they put into the Enterprise.
The long-term aim is that their their self esteem and understanding of the responsibilities of working will help them feel confident to apply for a jobs on the open market.
Funds are needed for skilled people to help in this long-term effort.
Caritas St. Joseph aims to enable people with learning disabilities to participate fully in the life of their community.
In all that we do, we recognise the gifts and talents of people with learning disabilities, and value their unique place in the world. This is part of the extensive RC Diocese of Westminster, a registered charity (no. 233699) we work in 2 main areas:
- Supporting families who embrace members with learning disabilities in the parishes in London and in Hertfordshire
- And at the Activities Centre in Hendon, with over 190 students, from all faiths or none
