Story
Our exciting clock and carillon restoration project will ensure the smooth running of Hinckley’s biggest clock for another 150 years and make Hinckley one of a handful of towns in the entire country with a carillon playing musical tunes on a daily basis. Imagine the increased footfall to Hinckley town centre of visitors coming to listen to 222-year-old carillon playing.
It will cost £35,920 to renovate the clock and £6,475 to bring the carillon back into working order. So far the church community has raised £8,000 and so as a town we still have a target of £34,395 to raise to have the carillon playing and the clock in good working order for generations to come.
Our discussions with grant making bodies indicate that they expect a lot more to be raised locally before they will join in the effort with the awarding of grants and so the people of the town of Hinckley have the challenge of raising approximately £12,000-£15,000 towards this exciting town centre project.
