Story
I'm Steph, I'm 28 and I have lovely long blonde hair.
But not for long.
I have decided to shave my head.
But why? Well, I've always wanted to shave my hair. My hair has been long and blonde since I was a toddler and I've just always wanted to have short hair. "It won't suit you." "You'll look ridiculous." "People will think you're ill." Some comments I've had from people when I have told them what I am going to do. But why should I be held back by other people and their standards of beauty. If I don't have hair am I no longer attractive? Am I no longer a woman? Just because I don't fit in to traditional beauty norms? Hair does not define you, your femininity, your sexuality or your personality. And it's taken me a long time to learn that.
I am will be donating my chopped locks to Little Princess Trust, a charity that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness.
And of course I am asking for donations towards the wonderful Staffordshire and Shropshire Blood Bikes. A dedicated and kind team of volunteers who give up their time to be on call for whenever a hospital needs something transporting quickly. Blood, breast milk, hospital notes, instruments and anything else that might be needed quickly between hospitals the blood bikes are there to transport at all times of day (and night!) over regional distances.
I will be doing it in Shrewsbury Town Centre on the 29th October. Please come along and watch to show your support or just for a laugh!
So dig deep and donate to a fantastic charity for me to shave my head! Thank you xx
