My story :
My wife Sally is an inspiration to me and to all that meet her . She was born deaf and with a birth defect which affected the development of her ears as a baby . Microtia is what my wife and many others are born with , what it is for my wife is she was born with no ears and without her Baha hearing aid she is deaf . However that said everybody who meets her falls in love with her smile and personality and many don't believe she is deaf or has no ears . She has in recent years attempted to have reconstructive surgery to creat new ears but after several operations and heavy heartache this was to prove unsuccessful . She has now embarked on a new journey to have prosthetic ears created from a template of our own daughters ears . It's the little things , is the reason why she is doing this , to be able to wear a pair of sunglasses and maybe buy the earrings to match the necklace . There are many other people around the uk who have the same problem as my wife , and if they want something anything is possible . I am running in the Great south run on the 23-10-16 , I am doing this for my wife and for the Microtia UK charity which does an amazing job to bring awareness of Microtia to the public and to support those through their own journeys in life .
